In 1986 I made enough money working as a parking lot attendant that I was able to afford a Roland TR 707 and a Casio CZ 101, to add to the ghetto-girl soundsystem, which then consisted of a Panasonic Porta-One 4-track cassette recorder, a Casio MT-40 keyboard, a spring reverb/delay box and a condenser mic from Radio Shack, and various wind instruments. (Soon I would also buy a Yamaha QX7 sequencer!)
Mind you, at this point, it hadn’t occurred to me to start writing structured songs yet. I was more interested in recording things that sounded good to my LSD-infused mind. So what you hear here are first takes and ad libs – the first “song” I recorded with the new equipment!
